NEF 2022 to focus on boosting investments in climate-smart energy infrastructure- NEF Chairman
The Nigeria Energy Forum (NEF) 2022 will focus on boosting investments in climate-smart energy infrastructure, capacity building on modern energy technologies and enhancing sustainability of the power sector.
The Chairman of the NEF, Dr Daniel Adeuyi disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Lagos.
According to the chairman, the theme of NEF2022 Conference and Exhibition is entitled:” Energizing Economic Growth and Sustainability”.
“This year event will be held physically in Lagos on July 21 and virtually on Nov. 24,” he said.
The chairman said that the forum would gather insights from key stakeholders, identity pragmatic recommendations and highlight practical solutions for
powering economic growth, addressing the global energy crises and financing a sustainable energy transition.
The statement said the Co-chairman of the forum, Engr. Adekunle Makinde, said conference organizers had adopted a gradual return to in-person engagement post COVID-19.
According to Makinde, this is based on the feedback of over 240 stakeholder who participated at the NEF2022 inception survey.
He said the July 21 conference would be held physically in Lagos, at the Admiralty Conference Centre, Naval Dockyards, Ahmadu Bello Way and the 24th November session will be held as a virtual conference.
Makinde said that Canada High Commissioner (designate) to Nigeria, James Christoff would deliver a keynote presentation on opening plenary session.
He also, confirmed that the keynote speakers include Dr Tinuada Sanda, MD/CEO Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), ; Christian Mulamula, Principal Investment Officer (Infrastructure), IFC, World Bank Group.
“Others are Afolabi Akinrogunde; Acting CEO, Shell-All On; and representative of the USAID Nigeria Power Sector Programme,” he said.
Also speaking, Dr Bamise Olanrewaju, the NEF2022 Strategy and Innovation Lead, said that other experts and panelists confirmed for the NEF2022 conference include: Abiodun Dada, Group Head, Oil & Gas, Access Bank.
“Others are Olumide Fatoki, Head of Grid Unit, Nigerian Energy Support Programme, GIZ; Sandra Dozie, CEO, Salpha Energy; Olusola Owoyemi, CEO, Infibranches; Sade Fagbola, Director Aggregated Procurement, Odyssey Energy, USA;
” Seyi Okunuga, Sector Lead, Renewable Energy, Sterling Bank; and Dr. Segun Adaju. CEO, Consistent Energy & President Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria.
“NEF2022 will feature over four super sessions on: Maximizing Industrial Captive Power Solutions to deconstruct barriers to use of gas and transition from diesel generation for large energy consumers.
“This will be supported by Johnvents and Jubaili; Clean Energy Pathfinders Roundtable, supported by All On; and Financing Modern Energy Access Expert Panel to highlight funding options for energy infrastructure and climate action,” he said.
He said that over 300 participants including over 40 expert speakers, poster presenters and exhibitors are expected to engage with the NEF2022 conferences.
