2017 AFRICA ENERGY IDEAS COMPETITION
The Africa Energy Ideas Competition is for early-stage business ideas. Across Africa, the key energy challenge is how to electrify millions of households, remote communities and small-scale entrepreneurs as quickly as possible. This competition engages young professionals from Africa in developing innovative ideas with a focus on solutions that are sustainable, affordable and commercially viable to urgently tackle the African energy challenge.

The UK Minister for International Development, Hon. Nick Hurd, has supported the 2016 Nigeria Energy Forum, confirmed attendance and will be making a presentation titled ‘Sustainable Energy in Africa – Rising to the Challenge’ at the event. His Excellency, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has been invited to be the Chief Host of the Forum and to formally open the event with a keynote speech titled ‘Sustainable Energy for All Nigerians – Grand Challenges, Big Opportunities’.

On Tuesday, 26th January 2016, the Nigerian High Commission UK, formally endorsed the 2016 Nigeria Energy forum (NEF 2016) during an official visit by the NEF 2016 team to the High Commission in the UK, hosted by the Acting High Commissioner, His Excellency, Mr Adah Simon Ogah. The Acting High Commissioner together with the Ministers of Industry Trade, and Investment, Mr. Hassan Mohammed Hassan and Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq, was extremely impressed with the presentation of the NEF 2016, and it’s unique engagement with high-level policy makers, business leaders, higher education institutions both nationally and internationally, and the Nigerian Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE), a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
